Green Homes Grants

You may be entitled to Government backed funding for a range of energy saving measures in order to make your home more energy efficient. Saving the planet whilst saving you money.

What is A Green Homes Grant?

 

The Green Homes Grant is a new initiative for homeowners to help them make their homes more energy efficient. This scheme will be launched towards the end of September 2020 and will run until March2021
Under this scheme the government will pay 2/3 of the cost of energy- efficient home improvements up to the value of £5000 per household. In some eligible cases the value could be higher to the max value of £10,000.
The grants will be provided in the form of vouchers which can be used towards the cost of installing energy efficient and low-carbon heating improvements to homes.
Environmentally friendly improvements such as loft, floor and wall insulation or double glazing to replace single glazing are included in the scheme. These improvements will result in huge savings on their energy bills.

How much could I be entitled to?

​

Under the scheme the government will provide a voucher that covers up to two thirds of the cost of qualifying improvements. The maximum value of the voucher is £5,000.

Homeowners may be able to receive a higher level of subsidy if they or a member of of their household receives one of the qualifying benefits covering 100% of the cost of the improvements. The maximum value of these voucher is £10,000.

Who is eligible to apply for Green Homes Grants?

For the general scheme, most homes in England will be covered by the grant. Both homeowners and landlords will be eligible, although new build domestic properties and non-domestic properties (such as shops and offices) are not included in the scheme.

Landlords cannot apply for the low-income part of the scheme.

For the low-income scheme, only owner-occupied properties and park homes are eligible. You can qualify for the Green Home Grants low-income scheme if you receive at least one of the following:

  • Attendance Allowance

  • Carer’s Allowance

  • Child Tax Credits (CTC)

  • Contribution based Employment & Support Allowance (ESA)

  • Contribution based Jobseekers allowance (JSA)

  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

  • Income based Employment & Support Allowance (ESA)

  • Income based Jobseekers allowance (JSA)

  • Income Support (IS)

  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit

  • Housing benefit

  • Pension Guarantee Credit

  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

  • Severe Disablement Allowance

  • Universal Credit (UC)

  • Working Tax Credit (WTC)
